Your Summer Women's Health Reset

Your Summer Women's Health Reset

It’s hot outside (finally!) so it’s officially the time of year some of us anxiously await for 19 months every year.

To help you prepare for the season, we have your Summer Reset; a list of some simple habits and reminders to support your health this summer.

Stay Hydrated!

When temperatures rise, staying hydrated becomes even more important. Water helps your body regulate temperature, supports digestion, and keeps many of your body's systems functioning properly.

During the summer, we lose more fluids through sweat, which means it's easier to become dehydrated without realizing it. Even mild dehydration can leave you feeling tired, dizzy, or less focused throughout the day.

A simple way to stay on track is to keep a water bottle nearby and sip consistently rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. If you're spending time outdoors, exercising, or travelling, you may need even more fluids than usual.

Your summer challenge: carry a reusable water bottle with you and aim to refill it at least twice a day. Small habits can make a big difference.

Change Out of Wet Clothing ASAP

We love a beach day as much as anyone, but hanging around in a wet swimsuit for hours afterward isn't doing you any favours.

Yeast thrives in warm, moist environments. While wearing a wet swimsuit doesn't directly cause a yeast infection, staying in damp clothing for long periods can create conditions that may make yeast overgrowth more likely in some people, particularly those who are prone to recurrent infections.

The good news? This is an easy habit to change. After swimming, try to change into dry clothes as soon as you can. The same goes for sweaty workout clothes.

Your summer challenge: keep a dry pair of underwear and extra clothing in your beach or gym bag. Take a moment to change, and your future self may thank you.

Don't Skip Your Daily Probiotic

Summer is travel season, and while you're busy packing swimsuits, sunscreen, and chargers, don't forget the wellness habits that help you feel your best.

Travel often means changes to your routine. Different sleep schedules, long travel days, stress, dietary changes, and time zone shifts can all affect how you're feeling. That's why consistency is key when it comes to any daily supplement routine, including probiotics.

If you take a probiotic as part of your everyday wellness routine, try to bring it with you and take it around the same time each day. Keeping it in your carry-on, purse, or toiletry bag can make it easier to remember.

One of our favourite things about our Muna probiotic? The convenient blister packs make it easy to toss a few days' worth into your travel bag without needing to bring the entire box.

Your summer challenge: before your next trip, add your probiotic to your packing checklist so it doesn't get left behind.

Prioritize Sleep, Even During a Busy Summer

Longer days, vacations, weddings, patio nights, and weekend getaways can make summer feel exciting, but they can also make it easy to sacrifice sleep. Getting enough sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health. Quality sleep supports your immune system, mood, energy levels, concentration, and recovery.

And honestly, we get it. After a long Canadian winter and what can sometimes feel like an endless spring, summer is precious. We want to soak up every patio, beach day, barbecue, and sunset while we can. The goal isn't to skip the fun, it's to remember that your body still needs time to recharge so you can enjoy all those summer moments feeling your best.

Think of sleep as the foundation that helps all your other healthy habits work better.

Your summer challenge: choose one night this week to go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual and see how you feel the next day.
